Inspire305, powered by United Way, seeks to empower innovative, new nonprofits

CALLING LOCAL NONPROFITS THAT LAUNCHED BETWEEN 2012 AND 2017 TO APPLY

In an effort to support innovative nonprofits doing great work, United Way of Miami-Dade has launched Inspire305. This new initiative is offering up two cash prizes — $25,000 and $10,000 to help two nonprofits further their missions — and is inviting the community to help select the award recipients through online, in-person and text-to-vote campaigns.

Inspire305 is accepting applications from nonprofits that received their 501(c)(3) certifications between 2012 and 2017, offer services locally and meet all other eligibility requirements.  To learn if your organization qualifies, visit www.inspire305.org.

“Through Inspire305, United Way is empowering residents to get engaged and help select an emerging nonprofit that is transforming and inspiring our community,” Maria C. Alonso, president and CEO, United Way, said.  “We look forward to learning about all the great things that these nonprofits are doing and partnering with them to continue to fight for a stronger Miami.”

A team of community volunteers will review all the applications and announce up to five finalists in late May, when voting will open online.  At the finale event in late June, the finalists will present their pitches to attendees, who will have one final chance to cast their votes – and then the winners will be announced.

Inspire305 aims to propel social change by engaging the community in supporting new, innovative projects that are demonstrating vision and purpose.
