What is Inspire305?
Inspire305 powered by United Way of Miami-Dade is a new initiative that supports local, innovative nonprofits that are creatively and effectively addressing some of our community’s most challenging social problems. This initiative brings together diverse, nascent, local nonprofits and community members to help redesign the future of Miami.
How is Inspire305 related to United Way of Miami-Dade?
Inspire305 powered by United Way of Miami-Dade is a new initiative aimed specifically at nascent local nonprofits activating solutions for the Miami community. This initiative is fully managed and funded by United Way of Miami-Dade.
How does Inspire305 work?
Inspire305 powered by United Way of Miami-Dade is a community-wide led effort. Local Miami-Dade nonprofits who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for one of two grant prizes. Upon completion of the application phase, Inspire305 and United Way volunteers vet and determine nonprofit finalists who are then put to an online vote. Upon public announcement of Inspire305 finalists, the Miami-Dade community is encouraged to learn more about each nonprofit finalist through their respective pitch videos and asked to vote for their favorite. The two nonprofits with the most and second most votes are awarded the Grand Innovator and Trailblazer award respectively.
Who can apply for Inspire305?
Local Miami-Dade nonprofits who meet the Inspire305 eligibility requirements (outlined below) are encouraged to apply.
Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and be able to provide corresponding EIN #
Organization/branch/affiliate* must have incorporated between 2010 and 2019
Organization/branch/affiliate* must employ 20 or fewer full-time employees
Must serve Miami-Dade County
Must not currently be receiving funding from United Way of Miami-Dade
Must not have been a previous Inspire305 winner (Grand Innovator or Trailblazer)
Grant request must address improvement for individuals and/or families in one of the following areas: education, financial stability or health
* Branches/affiliates of larger organizations must meet the above eligibility requirements, specific to their branches/affiliates in Miami-Dade County, in order to apply
How can my nonprofit apply for Inspire305?
Local Miami-Dade nonprofits interested in applying for Inspire305 should complete the Inspire305 application document and submit it along with all necessary attachments (as outlined in the application) on our website at inspire305.com/apply. While we prefer that applications and the additional attachments be submitted through our website, if you are having issues submitting your application or attachments via our website, you can also send everything through e-mail at email@example.com.
When is the last day to apply for Inspire305?
The Inspire305 application period is open from March 5th, 2019 through April 16, 2020 11:59:59 p.m. (EST). Any applications received out of this time frame will not be accepted.
How are Inspire305 finalists selected?
Inspire305 applications are vetted thoroughly by United Way of Miami-Dade’s Community Impact team and reviewed, graded, discussed and chosen by a group of Inspire305 vetting committee volunteers. Volunteers are members of United Way giving communities LINC (Lead. Impact. Network. Change) and Young Leaders. Vetting committee volunteers change every year.
When are Inspire305 finalists announced?
Inspire305 finalists will be announced on or about June 4, 2019
How many times can I vote for my favorite nonprofit?
Individuals in the community are able to vote for their favorite Inspire305 nonprofit finalist once a day for the duration of the voting period as outlined by the Inspire305 rules.
How are winners selected?
Inspire305 winners (Grand Innovator and Trailblazer) are selected by the community. The nonprofit finalists with the most and second most amount of votes each win $25,000 and $10,000, respectively.
My nonprofit applied last year and was a finalist, can we apply again?
Certainly! Previous Inspire305 nonprofit finalists who did not win Grand Innovator or Trailblazer in previous years are encouraged to apply again.
